Desert Tier 3 Boss Strategy Guide

Conquer Anubis Cl4nk, the ultimate challenge of the Desert. Learn how to break his shield totems, dodge the lethal purple lasers, and survive the weapon-strip.

The Desert Tier 3 encounter against Anubis Cl4nk is widely considered one of the most mechanically demanding fights in Megabonk. This boss tests your movement skills, your understanding of defensive stats, and your ability to plan ahead from Wave 1.

โš ๏ธ Stage Hazards & Mechanics

โ›” The Core Rule: Secondary Weapons Disabled

Just like the Forest Tier 3 boss, the moment you spawn into Anubis Cl4nk's arena, every secondary weapon you own is permanently disabled for the fight. You will be relying solely on the primary starting weapon of your chosen character.

Strategy: Dump every possible level-up into your starting weapon and passive Tomes (Cooldown, Damage, Quantity) during your run. Ignore secondary weapons unless absolutely necessary for early wave clear.

1. The Shield Totems (Different from Forest)

While the Forest boss makes you destroy pylons, the Desert boss takes a different approach. Anubis Cl4nk will shield himself, taking zero damage. To lower this shield, glowing Totems will spawn in the arena.

Counter-play: You cannot physically destroy these totems with attacks. Instead, you must stand inside their radius to "hack" or drain them. Doing so repeatedly drops his shield.

2. Purple Lasers & Homing Orbs

The arena will be flooded with massive ground-AoE attacks and a deadly purple laser beam that tracks you. If you get caught in a laser barrage, you will be juggled and likely killed in seconds.

Counter-play: You need a massive amount of mobility. Aim for at least 100% bonus Movement Speed and, crucially, extra Jumps (at least 3) to physically vault over danger zones and close the gap to totems.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Stat Priorities (The Lifesteal Trap)

Many players fail this boss because they bring the wrong defensive stats. Here is how you should build your passives:

โœ… HP Regeneration

The absolute best defensive stat. You will be running and dodging a lot, giving your passive regeneration time to top off your health bar.

โœ… Max HP & Armor

You need a massive health pool to avoid being combo'd from 100 to 0 by a bad laser dodge. Grab the HP Tome and Armor Tome.

โŒ Lifesteal (Bloody Tome)

Lifesteal requires you to deal damage to heal. Since the boss spends 60% of the fight completely immune with a shield, Lifesteal becomes useless.

๐Ÿฆ Recommended Characters & Builds

Since your primary weapon is your only tool, characters with strong base weapons that scale well with single-target damage are key.

Tony McZoom

Starter: Wireless Dagger

Why Tony? Tony natively synergizes with HP regen, total health, and cooldown speedโ€”all the exact stats you need to survive Anubis Cl4nk. The Wireless Dagger acts as an incredibly potent single-target tracking projectile. Stack Quantity and Cooldown Tomes, and the daggers will melt the boss the moment his shield drops while you focus 100% on dodging.

Vlad

Starter: Blood Magic

Why Vlad? If you prefer brute-forcing the encounter, Vlad's ability to inflate his Max HP to absurd levels through Blood Magic kills prior to the boss room allows him to tank the purple lasers that would instantly kill other characters.

Tier 3 Boss FAQ

Q: How do you drop the shield on the Desert Tier 3 Boss?

A: Unlike the Forest boss where you destroy pylons, Anubis Cl4nk requires you to physically stand inside the glowing totems that spawn around the arena. Standing in them lowers his invulnerability shield, allowing your attacks to damage him.

Q: Why does my Lifesteal not work against Anubis Cl4nk?

A: Because the boss frequently enters an invulnerable shield phase, he takes 0 damage during those times. Since Lifesteal relies on dealing damage to heal, it becomes practically useless. You must build flat HP Regeneration instead to survive the Desert Tier 3 fight.

Q: Why are my weapons disabled in the Desert boss fight?

A: Like all Tier 3 bosses in Megabonk, Anubis Cl4nk strips you of all your secondary weapons when you enter his arena. You are forced to rely solely on your character's primary starting weapon, which means you must invest all your upgrades into that one weapon before fighting him.
