Choose the route for your current character
These are conditional routes assembled from the original client’s talent descriptions. Check prerequisites and the points you have already spent in the game before following an endpoint. [1]
| Route | Talents to inspect | What makes it work | Condition that changes the choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marksmanship | Piercing Shots → Rapid Fire → Kill Shot | Direct ranged attacks build toward Aimed Shot. Kill Shot changes the starting spell and lets a killing blow ready it again, with a two-second limit. | A kill-reset chain needs enemies you can finish. It is not an unlimited reset on every hit against an isolated boss. |
| Beast Mastery | Wolf-related talents → Bestial Wrath | Bestial Wrath adds a raptor beside your wolf and gives pet bites additional nearby hits. | The two-pet setup requires its talent investment. Do not assume a fresh character begins with the developed pair. |
What to prioritise during the run
- Read the selected talent branch before choosing between shot and pet upgrades. The same class can have two different damage engines.
- For Marksmanship, keep your current ranged attack useful while working toward Aimed Shot interactions; prioritise a relevant attack over an unrelated trap just because the trap is new.
- For Beast Mastery, support the pet attacks you have unlocked, then add wave coverage when the offers allow it.
- Keep a retreat route. If enemies reach you before they die, a movement or recovery choice can solve a problem that another conditional kill proc cannot.
This is an editorial choice order, not a guaranteed card sequence. The offered upgrades and your current permanent investment still determine which step is available. [1]
When the intended build is not ready
Without Kill Shot, plan around Auto Shot and the available ranged cards. Against a boss without adds, evaluate sustained hits rather than the best-looking chain of kill resets. Without the second pet, treat the current summon setup as one pet, not a failed copy of a finished build.
Before changing the whole plan, identify the failure: no room to move, too little recovery, or too little damage on the target. Change the part that addresses that failure, then compare another run with similar talents and equipment.
Check the starter and trigger before copying a build
Baseline starter: Auto Shot. Talents can replace it; use the route conditions above rather than treating this as the opening for every developed character. [1]
Do not copy the community reconstruction’s Arcane Shot opener into the original game. Starter changes, kill triggers and pet investment explain why two Hunter recordings may open differently.
Record the game version, zone, difficulty, selected capstone, permanent equipment and the card that changed the run. Comparing two different progression states cannot establish that a single spell was better. Use the meter carefully →
