Choose difficulty for the reward you need

Clear a zone on Normal with your class to open Heroic there. A Heroic win opens the next level for every class in that zone and permits that class’s local gear to reach the corresponding star level.[1]

Two different unlock scopes

  1. Select the class and zone first; inspect Difficulty beside Enter.
  2. If Heroic is locked, read whether the class still needs its Normal clear or an earlier Heroic tier needs a win.
  3. After a Heroic win, distinguish the next-tier zone unlock shared across classes from the gear-star permission earned for the class that played.
  4. Check the piece’s own zone and star requirement before spending marks.

Changing class can therefore change eligibility even when the account has cleared a high tier elsewhere. Use the gear upgrade checklist →[1]

V2.722.162.51.7

These are the displayed Elwynn Forest v0.130.0 menu values on our fresh Shaman profile, not a measured farming efficiency table or universal future formula. A dash means this snapshot did not print that multiplier. More rewards per attempt can still be worse progress if the run fails early.[1]

Read the active affix before choosing a build

AffixAdjustment suggested by its rule
BolsteringDeaths strengthen nearby survivors; avoid treating all clustered kills as automatically safer.
SanguineElites leave pools that heal enemies; move the fight away rather than feeding targets inside the pool.
ExplosiveOrbs require direct hits; a passive damage-over-time plan still needs an answer to those targets.

The captured menu on 30 October lists Sanguine from Heroic III and Explosive from Heroic V. This is a dated weekly snapshot, not a standing schedule. Read the current panel again before a run. Other tier conditions include shorter warnings, stronger failed boss mechanics and reduced healing/revives; our source text does not justify assigning every condition to a tier without its menu.[1]
