Read Articuno’s arena before chasing damage

Articuno is the Classic shrine encounter associated with Celestial Glacier. Respond to the arena’s own signals before committing to damage: ice armor, columns, reflected beams and safe sectors.[1]

Check the region and the task

Season 2 region progression opens Celestial Glacier after clearing Storm Coast. Confirm Classic and the correct host/version before applying these arena notes. A partner unlock is a separate League task; defeating or seeing this boss does not bypass its prerequisites.

Match the cue to a response

CueResponse to checkCommon mistake
Ice armorBreak the lake crystals to remove the armor identified by the encounter prompt.More damage alone is not the same as solving the armor mechanic.
Ice BeamUse a living column to set up a reflected path toward Articuno.Positioning and the current beam path matter; this is not a fixed coordinate script.
Self-reflected beamWhen its own reflected beam freezes it, reposition to use the opening. The source has a freeze/opening window; we have not timed a completed fight.
Sheer ColdMove to the sectors with a golden edge before they freeze.React to the shown safe sectors rather than memorizing a static safe tile.

These actions are derived from the original .63 client prompts and encounter implementation, checked October 28. They are SINGLE_SOURCE, not our completed boss run, measured success rate or a frame-perfect route.

Prepare a draft that leaves room for the mechanic

Keep attacks able to reach the target during an opening and preserve enough movement and recovery to respond to the arena. Check the chosen form, fixed modifiers and conditional item descriptions in the planner before treating a damage bonus as always active.

Use the result of a failed attempt to choose the next change: wrong arena response, missed opening, an unavailable item condition, or an attack that did not connect. That is more useful than replacing the whole build without knowing the cause.

Record an attempt without inventing a benchmark

Write down the host/version, region, difficulty, partner/form, observed cue and immediate failure cause. A screenshot of a menu proves the menu state; it does not prove a boss victory. This guide contains no claimed personal clear.
