Start a run without following the wrong version

Match your host and menu first. A class-selection screen and the newer reference’s camp/waypoint flow need different steps. Choose an opening skill, move through the horde, then follow the act transition; entering a named area alone is not proof of reaching the next act.

Choose the route you can actually see

For the original, open its own website and finish any file setup first. In the reference’s camp flow, choose a hero around the bonfire and use the waypoint to start. If your build instead shows Select Hero Class, choose a class and use its Start control. Our original-interface capture showed that class selector; the reference describes a later camp flow. Do not search an old menu indefinitely for a waypoint it does not show. [1]

The hosted Play window is another edition with separate progress. Follow its visible menu rather than assuming the original’s current documentation is a version match.

Make a usable first choice

Read the offered active skill and the passive separately. A new damaging skill gives you an attack to work around; a passive modifies your options but is not automatically a new attack. Keep your next picks consistent with the skill you chose. This is an opening decision method, not a ranked best-class claim. Slot limits, evolutions and requirements belong to the displayed build’s skill rules. [2]

Use WASD to move and Esc to pause in the checked desktop route. Click inside the game if keys reach the webpage. Inventory and skill panels are references, not reasons to stand in a moving horde. [1]

An area name is not another act

The checked original reference advances areas on the act’s clock; walk across the incoming terrain border to enter the next area. Around six minutes of that act’s clock, its boss appears. Card and menu time pauses the clock, so six minutes on a wall clock is not the same test. The five act bosses are Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto, Diablo and Baal, in that order. A new area label is not a new act: finish the act boss sequence, then enter the red portal. The reference says to click the portal or stand still in it briefly; merely walking through it does not trigger the transfer. Pick up wanted equipment before leaving, because gear left on the floor stays in that act. A player explicitly asked how areas and acts differ; this is the distinction to check. These are dated reference rules, not a timed clear of the older hosted edition. [3][4]

Stop with a backup plan

Before closing, use the save-and-exit control your build offers. If you want to resume, check Continue and the saved-run location before choosing a fresh run. For a first installation, choose browser or desktop setup. This guide does not certify boss clears or save transfers.
