Start with the decision in front of you
Choose online or local co-op
The base game lists single-player. On Windows, fan mods offer separate online and same-PC routes. Choose by where your friends play, then match the author’s game and mod versions; this is not official multiplayer support.

Choose one damage plan, then make the rest of your slots help it happen more often or keep you alive. A fast utility skill and a slower heavy hitter can work together through a compatible skill chain; six individually attractive skills may not form that route.

If you have Bloodgod’s Legacy, the historical bleed route is a concrete starting template. A separate July 2025 community answer offers a different weapon-oriented loadout. Match your weapon and unlocks first; these reports do not establish a universal current best build.

Use early runs to fund permanent upgrades and learn one focused damage plan. After a clear, choose whether you need a safe return to spend resources or a harder continuation; you do not have to push a deeper mode every time.

Start directly in The Frozen Wastelands and activate the Winter Sigils in red → blue → yellow → green → purple order. Kill a boss dropping that colour of major Soulstone inside the matching circle. Standing in a circle while a boss dies elsewhere does not complete it.

Choose a damage plan
Use the skill-chain checklist before copying a loadout. For a named character, compare two reported Barbarian routes. We do not claim a tested all-character tier list.
Playing with friends
The Steam product lists single-player. Fan projects provide different online and same-PC routes on Windows. Compare the co-op requirements before installing a loader.
A hidden task with a fixed colour sequence
For the winter-map circles, use red → blue → yellow → green → purple and check where the boss dies. This is separate from ordinary map progression.
When a mod guide names the wrong loader
Check the author, game version and loader. A MelonLoader HUD plugin is not installed by following a BepInEx co-op package guide.

Platform and release status
Steam App 2066020 left Early Access on 17 June 2025; Early Access began 7 November 2022. Steam lists Windows, macOS and Linux. The official game website links PS5 and Xbox Series versions too. The checked official links do not list Nintendo Switch; that is not a promise that a port will never happen. Mod instructions here apply to their documented Windows versions.
